The old man In the Sea and Blog #3

Santiago the main character and protagonist is a exciting old man. He lives a calm but adventurous life. I can admire him because he has almost nothing but still learns to love his life. He is a strong and grateful old man.
He remindes me of this old woman that i met in mongolia. Her family and her were poor but never the less they invited us into their home and fed us well. The food wasnt the best but it was the thought that counts. They had almost nothing and they still gave us food and only expected us to talk to them.

Title: The Old Man In The Sea
Author: Ernest Hemingway
Genre: CLassical

In this reading Santiago is already on the fishing trip. Santiago has found a whole school of flying fish and Tuna. Santiago the great fisher thar he is cought one of the tuna breaking his no fish streak. He saved the good size tuna for later and then kept all his lines in at 40 fathoms deep. Each string is attached to a stick so that if  a fish bites the bendy stick would hit the water slightly alerting Santiago.

Only once did this happen and this is where the story starts to excel. One of the lines had a bite and Santiago immediately grabbed it. He could "feel the fish" instantly knowing that it was a Marlin. The Marlin hit the bait several times almost playing with Santiagos mind. He would come and then time would pass and he would bite again. After some time Santiago felt a massive pull and he could feel the heavy weight of the whole fish. Santiago let line out to tire the fish. Four hours (the fish still on the line) passed and Santiago started to get thirsty and hungry he drank some water and thought about cutting the Tuna he caught earlier but didnt yet. In the four hours he thought of the boy he wanted the boy to be there he wanted the boys help, he needed the boys help. He also wished the fish would jump, just once just so he could see what he was up against.

Just once he wished he could see the fish that swam deep in the water with his hook in his mouth.

  1. I like your relation from the main character Santiago to a family in Mongolia. I wonder if it is really a Marlin that he is in the process of catching, or some other fish. Why does he want to see the fish so bad is what I don't understand because he will probably see it in just a few minutes.
