Mr. Jones the owner of the farm is drunk as the novella begins and he forgets to secure his farm properly. As soon as his lights go out in his bed room all the animals get together in the barn to hear a speech from Old Major. In his speech he talks about how animals a born as slaves and they always have to work hard. He makes sure that all the animals know that two-legged are enemies and four-legged and wings are friends. Unfortunately a few nights later Old Major dies in his sleep. For three months the other animals plans on how to get rid of Mr. Jones and control the farm. Two pigs named Napoleon and Snowball are chosen to be the leaders. One day Mr. Jones forget to feed the animals because he is so drunk. The cows are so hungry that they break in to the store shed and attacks him, Mr. Jones' men notice it and starts whipping the cows but they turn on them and make them run away.

"At last they couldn't stand it no longer. One of the cows broke in the door of the store-shed with her horn and all the animals began to help themselves from the bins."

Blog #3: What do you love/appreciate most about the protagonist of this novel? Give 1 example of whom she/he reminds each of you of and why.
What we appreciate the most about the first protagonist (Old Major) is that he wants everyone to be equal and get food and have it nice where they live.
The protagonist reminds my mom of a communist head of state, because Old Major wanted everyone to get enough food, a nice place to live, and everyone to be equal, but they had to work for it and he tried to tell them all why they were having a bad time was because of the people that controlled them.
Old Major reminds me of Spartacus because him and the gladiators fought for a better life and didn't want live in an unequal society.

  1. I've herd about this book. I was surprised because I the title makes us think that it is a children's book about animal farm. While it is actually a really indepth book about history and politics. I also herd that it was a really good book. GOOD CHOICE!

  2. This sound like a good book. I have heard about this book many times because everyone says it is such a good book. I would like to read this book because it sounds like a good classical novel that combines emotions and a comedic plot as well. Also, nice blog post, you updated us on what was currently happening in the book!
