Consider the following questions and use them to guide your response:

  • What is happening at this point in your reading?
  • What have you learned or discovered in this section of your reading?
  • How have these developments affected the characters, relationships, situation OR your understanding of the issues presented withing your reading?
I am so glad to be done with this book because i just couldn't wait to see what would happen. The end did shock me and even brought tears to my face. The investigators and the police found out who Richard actually. Richard is not Richard. He is a completely different person who used another persons name that he earlier killed. He grew up in a foster home changing families all the time. He killed many people including his wife. The police also found out that he has some psychological issues. When "Richard" figured out that the police was after him he ran away right away. Julie and Mike also had to go to a different place because they were in fear that Richard might find them. Mike and Julie were at a beach house of one of their friends where Richard was observing each one of their moves. That one night he gave Singer some poisonous raw meat in order to get Julies attention. When Julie figured out Singer wasn't there she ran outside and Richard was waiting. He again referred to her as his wife Jessica which made Julie mad. Julie ran away but knew that Richard will catch her. When Mike came out Richard beat him up and there was no way for Mike to move. When he reached Julie for the second time, Richard rose his gun at her but then all of a sudden Singer came and saved Julie. He got shot and there was no way for him to be saved. Richard got caught by the police and everything was back to normal. Mike got saved and married Julie but Singer, a big part of Julie's life was missing. Singer was her guardian angel, the one thing that was always there for her.

Reflect: On what you have read over the past week
Consider the following questions:

  • What do you think about what you have read?
  • Has your recent reading fulfilled your expectations?
  • What do you expect for your continued reading?
  • How satisfied are you with what you have read?
This book had the best possible ending a book can have. I loved the way the author ended the book and showed how even a dog can save someone's life and therefor become an angel. I wished that the book said a little more about Richards past and his thoughts after the police caught him. After reading the whole book I can see that the author was trying to keep the main point on Singer and that made him the main character in some way.

4. Passage Section
Copy: Select a passage (1-4 sentences) that you believe to be significant or representative of the reading, or that is otherwise meaningful to you. INCLUDE page number.

Explain: What does this passage reveal about the book--its theme, focus, characters? In what way(s) does this passage trouble / intrigue / delight / frustrate / reward / challenge you as a reader?

"On the day the buried Singer in Julie's backyard, a warm, soft rain fell around the small group of people who gathered to say goodbye to the Great Dane who had been Julie's companion in life and, at the end, her Guardian." (381)

This came from the Epilogue which I enjoyed reading almost as much as the ending of the book itself. I loved how the author described the rain and how good Singer actually was. Singer was the most important thing in Julie's life after the death of her husband. The love that he gave her was indescribable. He saved her life and became her guardian angel always there for her to watch her from heaven. This book proved that dogs can be humans best friends. It made me love my dog more as if he was a human being.
