Seekers: The Quest Begins - blog 4

Title: Seekers: The Quest Begins
Author: Erin Hunter
Genre: fantasy
Number of pages read: 207/ 301

For today's blog post I read till the end of chapter twenty - one.
Lets start with Toklo. In the previous blog post I said that Toklo and his mother Oka are near a big lake. Now Toklo is staying in the water watching his mother who is ignoring him. Finally, Toklo gets angry and sits on a rock. Later, Oka gets angry for some reason, frightens away other bears and then falls asleep. A female bear comes to Toklo and ask him where his mother is. Toklo says he is waiting for fish but he doesn't want to mention Oka. The bear says that the salmon stopped coming because the flat - faces built a dam. Then she asks again where Toklo's mother is and he points out Oka. He watches her and then e falls asleep himself. He sees Oka saying a death ritual over him, and tells her he's still alive. She snarls he should be dead and chases him. Toklo promises himself he will learn to live on his own.
The next character I am going to talk about is Kallik. In the previous blog post the last thing that I mentioned is that Kallik is going to follow the Pathway Star. As she is following it she sees a dead rabbit and eats it. Later on, she sees five birds fighting over a fish. Kallik kills one of them and eats it. She continues on and finds a white patch of brown water and does not want to swim in it. She walks around, hoping to find a way to avoid the water. She finally goes through it and thinks the cold water feels wonderful until she bumps into something. She sees she bumped into small, gray whales. Kallik continues on, seeing a large gray whale and two small gray whales trying to catch up with the rest, and wishes she still had Nisa and Taqqiq. On the next day Kallik sees walruses. She tries to pass them but of them touches her and she runs away, scared by the walruses. Kallil wonders if her brother Taqqiq has met walruses. She then asks the ice spirits to help her brother.
The next character is Lusa. As she is playing in the bear bowl she sees that the flat - faces bring a new grizzly bear. Later Lusa goes near the fence and asks the bear for her name. She says her name is Oka! She starts talking about her cubs Toklo and Tobi and Lusa asks who they are. King, Lusa's father, suggests that it will be better if no one talks with Oka because when someone loses his children hes brain gets sick. Lusa realizes that Toklo and Tobi must be Oka's children.

Well, everything went pretty well since the last chapter - the one about Lusa. I must say that I didn't know that the book is going to mix the characters since each one of them is in different section. I expect that in the very end of the book  Toklo, Lusa and Kallik will meet and will try to help each other and survive in the wild.

Passage: "King snorted and turned to walk away.
"Wait," Lusa said, "I want to know more."
"What's the point?" King snarled. "You'll never see a Buzzy Tree, or taste honey, or have to escape from a grizzly. And you should be glad of it!" (page 200)
This passage made me giggle a bit because this is just another proof f how Lusa keeps on asking about the wild. She is very curious bear! :D
