Summary

Lusa is feeling guilty that she let Toklo go on the Paw Print Island all bu himself. She realizes what she has done and tries to help Toklo. There are lots of black bears walking around the meeting point, but she tries to sneak out and help Toklo. As soon as she escaped the meeting Toklo informed her that he doesn't need any help from Lusa and that it is best for him to stay where he is. At first Lusa didn't want to listen to him, she thought he needed help,  but somehow he convinced her that he doesn't need help, that he is just fine. Lusa returned to the meeting point and heard that one of the black bears was kidnapped by polar bears and black bears didn't try to stop them. Lusa got upset, and right away started searching for Miki, the missing black bear, but she did not know where they were hiding. She started searching the woods. Every single cave, tree and bush was searched, but no sign from Miki. She was exhausted, her heart was telling her one thing, and brains another. She listened to her brain and found a little cave to rest. She gathered some berries to survive over the night. She couldn't sleep whole night, because she was thinking about Miki, the kidnapped bear. Next morning she woke up and she found herself lying on the big rock. Everything was different now; she could see few polar bears from the distance. She hurried to get to the point, when she saw a polar bear getting drowned by her brother. That was Kallik and her brother Taqqiq. She noticed that they weren't playing. He really tried to kill her. Lusa punched Taqqiq and rescued Kallik. She put her somewhere safe and they met each other. They became very good friends. 

Response Section

I really liked what happened in this part of the story. I liked how Hunter connected Lusa and Kallik in one event and they became friends right way. In this part of the book Lusa was the main character and Hunter showed her in the best light, like brave little bear with courage in her heart. My recent reading really fulfilled my expectations. Plot really went in right order, only thing I did not like about this part is why did Taqqiq try to kill Kallik. I jut hope something bad happens to him, because he deserves it. I don't know what is going to happen to Taqqiq, but I think Lusa and Kallik will rescue the bear from the evil polar bears. I am really satisfied of what I read and I can't wait to see what is going to happen next. 

Passage Section

"Lusa thought she heard a voice on the wind. She stopped swimming and began to tread water, listening. The sun flashed brightly on the lake, hurting her eyes; she couldn't hear anything until wave lifted her up....... Then she spotted a white bear cub"
This passage tells us how Lusa was giving her best to find Miki, through what kind of pain she went through to find innocent Miki.
