Jane Goodall Blog 5

1.      Describe 3 significant contributions that your figure made and the impact of each.
Jane Goodall contributed to this planet, animals and so much more during her life time. Her first contribution was the Jane Goodall institute. What this institute did was teach kids all over the world about chimps, their natural habitats and how to treat them, this brings me to her second contribution. She went all around the world giving teachings to adults on how the chimps and their natural habitat is in danger and to try to conserve it. Also that without their natural habitat they wont survive. She made a huge contribution to science and scientists all over the world. Over the years she spent without he chimps, she made some very great discoveries about chimps which other scientists didn't know and wouldnt have discovered it soon without Jane. For example that chimps are not vegetarian, that they  make their own tools etc. Lastly and most important she provided human love towards chimps which they didn't get in a while.
2.      What is one MORE unique thing you have discovered about your figure?
I have discovered that all of Jane Goodalls discoveries completely amazed the crowd and scientists, and those are some discoveries which haven't been discovered yet. I also think its great that she has recorded all her discoveries in a book which I read this week and wrote about below.
3.      What are the different awards and prizes that your figure has been awarded
To recognize all her hard work she has won many prizes and awards including Gold Medal of Conservation from the San Diego Zoological Society in 1974,the J. Paul Getty Wildlife Conservation Prize in 1984, the Schweitzer Medal of the Animal Welfare Institute in 1987, in 1988, the National Geographic Society Centennial Award, and the Kyoto Prize in Basic Sciences in 1990. In 2002 she received the award of being a Messenger of Peace by the United Nations as well as in 2003 Dame of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II of England. Nevertheless all these prizes she wont bring her as much joy as a happy chimp in her arms.
4.      Describe the death of your figure.
My figure is alive and she is 79

Title: In the shadow of man
Author: by
This book is written by Jane Goodall herself and its about Janes research and her discoveries at the Gombe Stream Reserve in Africa. Jane wrote about her relationship with the chimps in Africa and how she discovered what she did. It also talks about how she learned a way to communicate and come close to the chimps as well as observe their natural habitat. There are many chimps, which she named and talked about in the book such as Flo, or David Graybeard which is the first chimp that let her come close to. Some other chimps are Mike, Goliath, Leakey, Worzle, Goblin, and McGregor. It also talks that chimps have humanity and are a lot like us. For example Jane locked the bananas in a closet however the chimps found a way to get to them, this process was repeated multiple times. Her research also has something to do with the relationship between the child and the parent, and how siblings can get jealous of each other. The picture below shows Jane Goodall and the chimp named Flo.

  1. Jane Goodall really seems like an interesting person, because of her life's dedication to chimpanzees, and all the research that she has done, I just find all of that amazing. In the Volleyball tournament, there was one guy that met her, because she attended and spoke at a CEESA conference a few years ago, so I thought I would share it with you. Great job as always! :)

  2. Jane Goodall really is an amazing person. And that is so cool that she discovered so many things about chimpanzee's that no other people found out before. She has uncovered so many things about them, their language, the way the move, and we humans need to know this since they are so alike to us.

  3. I already told you when I read your essay, Jane Goodall sounds like a great person. I like that she made an institute that teaches kids about chimps, and not only adults. Also I didn't know that chimps aren't vegetarian; I mean I never thought about it too much, but I figured that they only eat plants. Since I read your essay I know how Jane came closer to the chimps and learned about them by always waiting for them at the same place, and that also shows that she is a patient person, which is probably very helpful to her job. Great post, and I love the picture!
