I have recently been reading the wonderful book called To Kill a Mockingbird. It is a classic and was written by Harper Lee. With this one and only novel that she wrote, she won the Pulitzer Prize. This book is about a girl, nicnamed Scout, and her Brother, Jem and their friend who visits their town, Maycomb, which is in Alabama. They are the best of friends. Also Jem and Scouts father, Atticus. Dill and Jem are a few years older than Scout. Dill dares Jem to go up to the scary Radley house and he does and from then on they always make a game out of that house. Also Dill and Scout have a pact to get married when they are older . And recently Scout and Jem have been having a hard time becuase their father, being a lawyer, took on a case where a black man supposedly raped a girl. You see this takes place in the 1930's and in the south, where racisms very much existed then. Also the family with the white girl in it is supposedly "white trash" and because of the case, everyone is making fun of Scout and Jem and calling their father a "nigger lover". Jem got incredibly angry at an old lady for doing this and ruined her yard. Then he and scout had to read to her for a month everyday for two hours after school. After they found out that she would move the alarm for them to finish everyday and she was sick. She died soon after. I am so far really enjoying this book and I really like it. Especially since I love historical fiction, especially from that time.
