The War of the Worlds

The War of the Worlds, is a science fiction book written by H.G Wells. It takes place In 1898, were an annonymus narorator, who travels through london, and most of England, through his jurney the world is invaded by martains, the story (for now) is explaining the conflict between the martians and humans.

The story basicaly starts, when the narorator (who is never named) is in an observatory and witnesses explosions on mars, making the whole scientific community wonder to what has happened, later a meteor strikes a north part of London, near the narrorators home. He was on of the first to discover that it was a space cylinder object. When the cylinder oppened a martian came out, according to the book the martian was a "bulky, octopus-like creatures the size of a bear. " The creature could not stand the Earths atmosphere so it retreaves into the cylinder, as it does this a man falls into the pit, but it is believed by the people that he was pulled in. The humans were desperate so they sent out an astrounemer, Oglyvi, he is holding up a white flag to indicate peace, the martians on the other hand interact with the humans using a heat ray weapone, and fiering uppon them.
