ORR 6 - 13 Reasons Why

Title: 13 Reasons Why
Author: Jay Asher
Genre: Young Adult
Comments: A clever, yet shy High School student, Clay Jensen receives cassette from a girl he had a long-time crush on named Hannah Baker, there are instructions telling him to listen to each tape in order and then send it on to the next person. The only thing is, Hannah Baker is dead, she killed herself by overdosing on pills, suicide. On each tape, Hannah tells how each person these tapes are meant to be sent to, pushed her so that she chose suicide, hence the names, "13 Reason Why" This book was really interesting because it is really two stories going on at the same time. They are, Hannah's recording and Clay's reactions and the things that are happening to him. At the end of the book, there was a question and answer interview that the author had done. One question was about the composition of the book, and the author said he actually wrote out Hannah's complete story and then added Clay's commentary rather than writing them at the same time. This I found interesting, the way this book is set up  can get quite confusing because you often are jumping between thoughts and must not get left behind, because if you do the story won't make sense.  I really thought this was a good
book, and wold definitely recommend it to people. It not only is a great, almost mysterious story but also was some very true and valid helpful tips and signs of suicidal thoughts in friends and family. I would recommend this book for people who have read For One more Day by Mitch Albon.
Below is a YouTube video of one the first tapes. More of the tapes can be found of this site: http://www.thirteenreasonswhy.com
