After finishing the book The Pearl by John Steinbeck, I thought that I should start reading a book for our next book project. I chose to read the book Journey the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne, which is a blend of science fiction and historical fiction. Some parts of the book are made up and aren’t historically accurate, while other parts are accurate and really happened. So far professor Linfenbrock had found a code hidden in an Icelandic Saga written in Runic Cryptograms. Together with axel the professor manages to crack the code, and realizes that the code is actually directions to the center of the Earth. The impatient professor travels to Iceland together with Axel. During their trip to Iceland the Professor plans their expedition, they are going to enter the Earth through one of the craters in touched by the shadows made by a nearby mountaintop. I hope that the book continues in the same adventurous manor.

The key reason why I found the characters interesting is because of the difference in character between the professor and his nephew (Axel). Professor Lindebrock is very inpatient and is brave, while Axel is patient and uninterested at first about the matter; he is unlike his uncle a coward and wants to return to Hamburg. I think that this will be one of the key external conflicts through out the book, because already the professor had proven that he wont back down from the expedition, and Axel had shown us that he isn’t going to go to the center of the Earth. Which means that one of them will have to give in and listen to the other. I personally think  that Axel will listen to his uncle and travel with him to the center of the Earth.
