Evermore

Title:  Evermore
Author:  Alyson Noel
Genre:  Fantasy
Pages:  306

This book was about a girl called Ever who has this psychic ability to read the minds and emotions of the people around her.  She lives with her aunt because her mom, dad, and little sister all died in a car accident she believes she caused.  Ever can see her sister's ghost, which comes to visit her all the time, but she can't see her parents.  Before the accident, Ever was just a normal girl with normal abilities.  She was pretty, popular, smart, and she couldn't see ghosts or read minds.  After the car accident, in order to keep attention away from herself so she doesn't have to touch people and be overwhelmed by emotions, she become a nobody at school.  She is one of the most unpopular people until a "smoking hot gorgeous" guy comes along and seems to hit on her.  They get together, and she notices weird things about him.  In the end, she figures out that he is an "immortal."  He has lived for 600 years.  Ever has been killed multiple times by this guy's former girlfriend, and has been reincarnated every time she has died.  She has to fight this other girl in order to keep the guy, and prevent the girl from killing her...again.
This book was really good.  I thought it was gripping, and it had ironic twists and turns.  It wasn't predictable, so I couldn't guess what would happen next, or when I tried to predict, my predictions were wrong.  I like it when books do that.  The thing about Evermore is that I think the author was basing everything on the "Twilight" series.  First the girl, who is no one special, ends up being together with this impossibly good-looking guy.  It seems too good to be true.  Then, she discovers that it IS too good to be true - he's not entirely human.  She's still in love with him, though.  Their love carries them through everything.  Also, something I thought was ironic is the fact that the second book in the series is called "Blue Moon."  It's just kind of funny that Evermore is so similar to Twilight, and that the second book of the Twilight series is "New Moon," and the second one in "The Immortals" series is "Blue Moon."  All in all, I thought that this was a good book, but I wouldn't read it a second time - there are only so many times you can enjoy it.
