In The Time Of The Butterflies

Title: In the time of the butterflies

Author: Julia Alvarez

Genre: Historic Fiction

Comments:

Reading the first fifty pages of this book was very tedious and the descriptions were a bit too detailed- it required me to have a lot of patience reading about one situation for a long time (about 5 minutes), and then reading the other situation that is happening for another 5 minutes. Sometimes I think it's a little too tedious.
Mirvera, the main character, seems to me most rapped up in the revolution, and her 3 other sisters live in a small town in 1938, having both parents. The chapter starts of with their father deciding it would be a good idea to move to a bigger town- so that Minvera could become a lawer, as she wishes to be. In her new school, she meets a nice, depressed girl called Sinita, who sadly lost her whole family in a war. Sinita is against the president, Trujillo, because he killed her father and her uncles. I do not know anything else yet- but I can't wait to find out what will happen!
Also, I predict that something is going to stand in the family's way while trying to suceed education and work (farming), because not all books are perfect, and not all books have good endings- at least in my opinion.
