The White Mountains
John Christopher
Science Fiction
So far in the book 3 boys, Will, his cousin Henry, and Beanpole, are in France and are heading to the White Mountains. The only safe place from the Tripods, 3 legged metal monsters who have control over the earth. They just escaped a village where Will and Henry were caught and one of the locals, Jean-Paul, or Beanpole, saved them. Will and Henry decided that Beanpole should go with them to the White mountains. When traveling they came across a city. A city of the Ancients as they called it. As they traveled in it it has a subway and there were many different shops. They looked around most of the shops at the beginning, but as the sun began to set they were more focused on getting though the city because they were not too keen on staying the night there. In one of the shops Will found a watch made of gold. It had an elastic band and it was a little big for him so he put it high on his arm. He also put it high on his arm so that they others would not see it and become jealous. He also did not want any of them having a watch similar to his so he did not tell them about it. While traveling and they took a break the watch slipped down his arm and the others saw it. They were sort of jealous of Will's cool watch, but they did not make a big deal about it so they went on. Later as the three are traveling Will gets really sick, so Henry and Beanpole find a shed where they put him to rest. The owner of the shed came by and saw the three boys there. They cared for Will. The 3 boys decided to stay for a while because it was very nice there. They planned to leave at a large week long celebration just before they would hand the boys over to the tripods. During that large celebration they would leave and travel towards the white mountains again. At a couple times Will had wanted to leave earlier, but the others insisted on staying so they all did.
I hope that they three boys will leave during the party and not get caught or be handed over to the tripods so that they will be able to continue their journey to the white mountains. I am very eager to read more about what happened in the book.
I really liked the way that you posted. The book seems great from what you have written.
