The Throne of Fire is the second instalment in the Kane Chronicles trilogy. Having sent Set back to the duat, and discovered that the "Face of Horror" was a host for Apophis, the Kanes must now stop him from rising. Carter and Sadie Kane are now master magicians, and have a power that not even the Pharaohs could achieve, the power of gods. Carter is linked to Horus, who though constantly annoys him and has an urge to fight, is a pretty cool companion (it makes Carter king of the gods). Isis inhabits Sadie, and she ain't happy about it. Isis is pretty good at getting Sadie to follow her bidding, which most of the time is wrong. Early on in the book, Horus takes Carter on a journey in to the duat to meet Apophis. It is at this time that Carter accidentally sets him free, and he proceeds to swallow the sun, and with it swallows Ma'at, or order.
This is so far how far I've gotten through the book, and I must say, it is just as good as the first. I especially enjoy the character portrayed by Set, as he desperately tries to break free from the duat, but also wants Sadie dead, even though he is not allowed to kill her and is forced to be her slave. It is quite funny.
