The White Mountains

The White Mountains
John Christopher
Science Fiction

Will and his cousin Henry are running away from the tripods, three legged metal creatures that have been capping people for years to make them follow their orders and stop them from asking questions. Questions about why they are taking orders from the tripods and doing everything for them like slaves. Will met a vagrant, a person who went crazy because their capping went wrong, and he hung out with him. After a few days they decided to meet where no one else would be around. When they got there Will found out that he was not really a vagrant and that he was just pretending to. He did that so that he could find young people who had not yet been capped who were not that excited to be and to tell them about The White Mountains, a place were you can go and not be capped because the tripods did not go there. Will decided to go to The White Mountains. When he left at night his cousin who was living with them because his mother had recently died heard him creep out of the house and so he followed Will. When Will found out that he had come he decided to let him come along. As they walked and limped and ran they finally got to the ocean. There they were able to find and board a ship with some people from the same place as the Vagrant Will met in his hometown. They crossed the sea from England to France. In France they were trying to not go through any villages so that the villagers would not see them because who would know what they would do with them especially because they did not speak the their language. Within the first 5 minutes they were running from villagers and were then captured. They were thrown into a cellar where they stayed for not too long. Soon after they were thrown in a boy around their age came and let them out. As they ran out of the city Will told him what they were doing and the boy, nicknamed Beanpole, told them how he knew English. Now the three boys, Will, Henry, and Beanpole were all headed for the safe-haven in The White Mountains.
I am really enjoying this book and I hope that it will get more and more exciting as I keep reading.
