The Power of Five: Oblivion

This week I finished reading an amazing book in a series called the power of five. It's the fifth in the series and the final one too. Let me briefly fill you in on what has happened in the other books. 10,000 years ago there was a great battle, against the old ones. These where evil creatures that if not stopped, would destroy the planet. They where lead by their king, Chaos. Luckily humans had one more chance the five. These where five fifteen year olds, who when they came together had unimaginable power. They where led by Matt, the strongest of them all, he could smash things and move things without even looking at them. The other four had different powers one was a healer, the other could control the weather and finally the two twins could control communicate with minds, controlling them or sending them messages. Anyway, long story short, they banished the old ones to a separate dimension, which was kept closed by two gates, one in Yorkshire called Raven's gate and another in Nazca, Peru. Back to the present day, the first character is introduced in the first book, this one is Matt, all of the five have been reborn to prevent yet another apocalypse in the present day, but they need to find each other.

So back to Matt, Matt is the only one of them in the first book his parents where killed so he is put up for adoption, and taken in by a sinister woman they turn out to be a circle of witches who are trying to allow the old ones back through, using Raven's gate, they failed. At the very last moment, when they where about to sacrifice him he realized his power and kills them all. OK, now another long story short, well three novels actually. The old ones do actually break through in the second one, in Peru but Matt deeply wounds Chaos king of the old ones. Now to book four (the third is just about the two mind reading twins escaping from nightrise, another company helping the old ones). The fourth book is set in Hong Kong, the first city to be taken over by the old ones it is slowly becoming a city of the dead. So at the end of that book they are all reunited, but, oh I forgot to mention, they get around using doors in sacred places with a five point star on top, these will take them wherever they want to go as long as there is another door there, anyway they are escaping from a typhoon through the door in Hong Kong, when Scarlet, the one who controls the weather and was keeping them safe in a bubble, was shot. Then everything goes crazy. They jump through the door without agreeing on a destination and they get scattered all across the planet, and ten years in the future. This is where Oblivion begins, now the five have to get back together and somehow all get to Antarctica and stop Chaos in his ice fortress before he destroys the planet, oh and the old ones have infiltrated every government on the planet and have got spies everwhere. I won't tell you the rest because that would ruin the book, as it is amazing, but I will tell you one thing, Matt has something pretty heavy install for him. Please read the series, you won't regret it, even though my book reviewing skills may have made it sound a bit boring.

  1. lol Alfie, it doesn't sound boring, in fact it sounds quite interesting. Imagine the Matt we know has such powers...who knows? Actually I do want to read this book, I never heard of it, however what stinks that it's a series...and my mum never lets me read them. But I have this massive book, Lord of the Rings, so I'll be having fun any way :-D
