Alex's Blog Post Week 1

Title: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Author: Douglas Adams
Genre: Science Fiction, Classic
Pages Read: 45

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a classic that explored ideas before they were even considered optional. The Guide in the book is described as a Blackberry Phone in a time where calculators were the newest technology that cost 10$. Concepts such as the "Point of View Gun" or Depressed Doors were born of imagination during a period where it was better to work than play. The book was a pocket book, as in everyone carried it around reading it when it came out. It brings out randomness to the point of missiles turning into a bowl of petunias and a talking blue whale that suddenly appears into existence. A superdrive that was "better than a speed-of-light drive" was brought into consideration. And I've only read the first 4 chapters.
