Prey

Prey
Michael Chricton
Sci-fi

This book is about a software designer who is out of work, and working as a house husband. His wife is the vice-president for a company that is trying to make a new product for the US military. The theory is that they could make a nano-swarm fly around in the sky taking pictures of enemies, but when shot at the bullet would go through the swarm, like it would to a swarm of flies. The product is close to a success, but as soon as there's a breeze the swarms are blown away and then useless. To solve this problem the scientists programed the swarms to learn by itself and set it out into the desert. The program they were using just happened to be designed by Jack Foreman, the house husband. The program soon gets out of control and starts attacking all the organisms in sight. Jack is called for help, he has to destroy the swarms, and stop his wife from killing him.

I think this is a good book for everyone who likes to read, the plot is easy to understand and the vocabulary isn't that difficult either. However it takes a long time to read and at times is a little boring.
