The Ultimate Boxer

Book: The Ultimate Boxer
Author: Christy Halbert
Genre: Instructional
Pages read: 1-97

The Ultimate Boxer is a book about boxing, it is a book for anyone that has anything to do with boxing, either somebody who practices boxing, or someone that coaches and professionally competes, skill level does not matter. In the start of this book it talks about the mental part of boxing as an introduction, and how it is unique from other sports, it specifically talks about how many people believe boxers come into the ring with anger, when really like any other sport boxers have respect for their opponents.

This book really helps me, I like boxing as a hobby, and looking at the basics over again really helps me remember some things. Although I cant connect with a protagonist, I can connect with this book through my love for boxing. I also believe this book would be interesting for people that do not box to get a different perspective on things.

In the first couple chapters I read the book covered, conditioning, muscles affected through boxing, boxing footwork, basic punches, some drills and boxing equipment.

  1. Aca, the book seems to be really interesting and exciting. From your review of the book i am considering reading it, because of the way you explained it and others. The book seems to tell people about the boxers, how they train and improve their skill, but it also explains to people that boxers arnt mad and mean all the time, and they don't box to blow of steam. They box because they love the sport and they are passionate about it. Good job!
