I read another 50 pages of the book "Blindness". That means that I am now on page 100. I like this book a lot because it is interesting how blind people can survive and how the human being reacts on blindness. Now I will write what had happened in this book from page 50 to page 100.
There were already two wards filled with people, which meant that there were already about 70 people in one small hospital. The blind people's life had got harder and they had had already a lot of adventures but they still didn't know what was going to happen next. The doctor was the chief, who tried to organize and solve all the problems that occurred in the hospital, but a lot of other blind people did not want to agree with that. There were a lot of discussions going on about several things. There was one main problem that caused panic for the blind in the hospital and for the army who guards the blind so that they couldn't escape. A man injured his leg and it got infected. The poor blind man could barely walk and the leg got worse and worse. The man freaked out and decided to escape out of the hospital and try to find another hospital where they could help him, but that was a bad idea. During the night the man stood up and tried to flee. He did not want that any other blind people woke up and stopped him. So he walked as quietly as he could. After a time he found the way out and at that moment he just had to pass the guards, but he did not succeed. He fell and one of the soldiers woke up. The soldiers shouted so that the whole army woke up and shot the injured blind man. From that moment on the army got scared of the blind people in the hospital and so they made stricter rules.
This was the main problem and from there on when they blind got out of the hospital to collect their food and they came to close to the army then they got shot. The army was once so scared, because the blind did not find the right way and got to close, so they shot them. The blind had to be more careful now by getting their food. Also they had to bury the dead blind people. After some days and nights they recovered themselves and thought that nothing worse can happen anymore, but that was wrong. One day they could hear a lot of cars coming and then they heard a lot of voices. There was still only one person who did not lose her eyesight and that was the doctor's wife. She looked out of the front door of the hospital and told their comrades that there are more people coming, but the line of the more blind people did not seem to end. Then there was an announcement which said that there are other people coming and with them the blind would round up to 270 people and there were only 6 wards, each of them with had forty beds.
