Title: Go Ask Alice
Author: Anonymous
Genre:Young Adult Drama
Comments: Go Ask Alice was one of the physiological books I have read in a long time. It is supposedly based on the real diary of 15 year old Alice and her introduction to and use of drugs. Alice starts out as an average 15 year old girl who just moved to a new house, the diary is written in a very typical manner, it's starts out quite flat and nothing really happens for a while, until Alice starts to meet new people at her school. After Alice is hooked on drugs she tries and tries again and after countless efforts she just can't stop. By the end of the book, she is supposedly clean, but dies just a few days after deciding to end keeping a diary. The book is set in 1971. I found it a very strong message to teenagers, because it takes you inside the thoughts of a peer under the influence of a foreign substance. It was strange to read, and at parts I had to put the book down for a few minutes and just breathe because of the complications one little pill, for example, can have. I would recommend to read this book is you found Crank by Ellen Hopkins interesting.

Wow! That sounds kind of dark. Was it one of those really gripping but horrifying stories, or was it just plain horrifying?
