Ranofer is an Egyptian boy who was supposed to become a goldsmith being taught from his father, but when his father dies his half-brother Gebu makes him a slave in his house. Gold has been stolen from the goldsmith, and even from tombs. Ranofer has found evidence that it is Gebu stealing the gold, and to win his freedom he must prove it and if he cannot he will be blamed for the punishment for stealing is death.
