The Perks of Being A Wallflower

This is a book about what it's like for charlie; a fifteen year old boy, to start high school. The book is written in charlie's point of view a bit like a diary and a letter to the reader. all the entries start with "dear friend" and end with "love always, Charlie". Charlie seems like a shy and a bit of a lonely boy. He loves to read and write and when he grows up he wants to be a writer. He has his mom, dad and older sister and brother, his brother doesn't live with him though. He also misses his aunt Helen, they were really close and she was always nice to him but unfortunately she died. He also had his best friend; Michael but he committed suicide which mad charlie disappointed and mad and sad because he didn't leave a note or show any signs that he would take his own life. Charlie loves books and music, he makes mix tapes and he says his favourite song is "Asleep" by the Smiths.
Charlie was always a bit shy and lonely but he loves reading, his english teacher gives him books to read out of class and they discuss them during break. He meets Patrick along with his step-sister Sam who he has a crush on and they become best friends. He goes to parties and accidentally gets stoned and also gets drunk he also takes part in the Rocky horror picture show.
I think that Charlie seems like a normal teenager but there's something about him that's different, it could be the way that the sees the world is different then the way we see it. He seems shy and very observant of the people around him. He doesn't seem like the popular kind. He always talks about his aunt and the way they talked and how they were like best friends and he always gets panic attacks when he remembers her and also on his birthday he had a panic attack but i don't know why yet, i hope i find out soon and i also want to see if he tells sam that he likes her and how she will react. Overall i think this is a really good book, the text is simple but it is full of different things and stories that he witnesses, i think it's a great book and the characters are all different which i like.
"When we hit the tunnel, all the sound got scooped up into a vacuum, and it was replaced by a song on the tape player. a Beautiful song called "Landslide." When we got out of the tunnel. Sam screamed this funny scream and there it was. Downtown. Lights on buildings and everything that makes you wonder. sam sat down and started laughing. Patrick started laughing. I started laughing and in that moment i swear we were infinate."(page 39)
I really like this passage of the book, it's a moment which seems important I don't really know why but it seems like a great memory that would be in a dream, Sam was standing on the back of the truck while in a tunnel with lights everywhere and the wind in her hair and her dress and it just seems like a really nice memory to have it shows how Sam is free like a bird going full speed with the wind in her face and isn't afraid to take risks of falling or getting caught. It's a delightful memory and i love the end "and in that moment i swear we were infinite" like they could be happy and live forever and ever.
