The Red Pony

I have finally finished The Red Pony. Dont think that i am relieved. This book was a great fun book. The book had a slightly different ending than i predicted. I predicted that the book would end with Jody growing up with the red pony. But what actually happened is that the red ponty died and Jody had to make one of his mares mate and then he had to raise a different pony.

After i finished the book i went online to see what other people thought of the book. And as i was researching i found a website telling us of what the moral of the book was. Intrestingly enough i discovered that Steinbeck wrote the book about his own childhood. Jody isnt him but he made the book have a time period of the time where he was growing and it took place in Salinas,California, where he grew up. The moral of the story that he made was for a boy growing into a man. I can recal a quote said by Jody during a conversation with his father. "'I will give you you barrels next season.'' Next season i will be a man.'"The reason why the book is called the red pony is because Jody had to go through a terrible loss that in the end made him strong. Stronger as a person.

This book is absolutely amazing. It truly is a Steinbeck book.
