I decided to not read the book about Will because it is too complicated and I took this book. I made a good choice. This is one of the best books I read.
"There was fear coming from the Onesies' cages" This is the beginning line.
The main character is Coriko, a blonde kid slave who lives in a cell located in a cave. There are a lot
of other kids in the cells, including his 12 year old (also blonde) cell mate, best friend and crush Pippa. She is
like a family to Coriko. One interesting fact is the both wear braids.
The story begins when Coriko is taken to the Cleansing room. The whole cave, including the Cleansing room is guarded by soldiers called Spears. Cleansing is water which comes from the waves from the ocean and the people who are in the room have to survive and not drown. In the room he meets two new kids. Tia and Bran. Coriko is very amazed with Tia because she is taller than anyone he ever saw. Coriko tells Tia and Bran how to survive the Cleansing. They all survive.
The next morning Coriko meets with Pippa and they go to their daily task to collect shards. Shards are pieces of glass. They need to dig in order to find them, that's why they are called Diggers. There are a lot of thieves who want to steal shards, so Coriko needs to fight them and protect the shards. There is only one problem. Pippa doesn't bare violence so Coriko needs to watch what he is doing. Coriko told Pippa about Tia and Bran. He explains Tia as a proper women, so Pippa gets interested and wants to know more.
The next day Tia and Bran have to start digging, but they have nowhere to dig because the kids don't allow them. They come up to Coriko and Pippa and they decide to dig together. Pippa was amazed with Tia and they become very good friends.
That's where I stopped. This book is promising so far. It has a lot of detail and the plot line is interested. I believe that the plot line is just warming up. On the cover of the book there is a picture of war.,

This book does sound like a good story. The opening sentence is very dramatic.
ReplyDeleteGreat revew stefan, gives a good feel for the book, just make it into paragraphs and not short sentences.
