The steam opened the sinuses of the horse. His eyes opened. You could see Gabilian was feeling better. Jody got excited. Billy insisted in sleeping in the barn to look over Gabilian. Jody slept well that night. The next day Gabilian look just as bad. Black eyes sealed shut with hard mucus. Gabilian breathing hardly but heavily breathing.
After a couple Billy decided to cut a hole in Gabilians Breathing pipe so he could breathe better. Over the healing process Jody went through rough times. He let Gabilian out twice on accident over night while Jody was sleeping. But the second time was bad. Gabilian had traveled over a hill with the large gapping hole in his neck. When Jody awaked he leaped out of the barn and ran faster than he ever had before following the tracks. Jody got to the top of the hill he could see birds circling. He knew the horse was in deep trouble. A bird when down to the horse. Jody flew down the hill. Just as the bird was going to peck at the wound he pulled the bird off and beat him dead to a rock. Jody was over whelmed. Furious. His father and Billy Came up from behind. His father said, "Its just a bird jody." Billy outraged said, "Its his horse, he was about to hurt him! You wouldn't understand!" Billy walked Gabilian with Jody back to the Barn.
This Book is thrilling. It is so fascinating and fun. It is a short but well spoken book.

ReplyDeleteI like that you are reading something by John Steinbeck.
ReplyDeletei think it's really cool that you read another book from john Steinbeck. It's kind of like the pearl, at the beginning, when the horse gets sick it's kind of like when Coyotito was bitten by the scorpion :)
