So far in the book, Robert hears bad news about his father, his plane was shot down by the Germans and where waiting for farther news. He hears  that in town they are firing the big guns for practice. His mother tells him to stay home and keep an eye on it and he says he will knowing that he wont. His smaller sister knows hes going and wants to go to, she said if he doesn't take her she will tell his mom. When they go to the fort they sneak in. His sister has to wear cotton buds so she doesn't damage her ear drums. A policeman had seen her putting them in on their way. After the guns where fired Abel had seen them there and ran away scared. Robert little sister had left her cotton buds where they where hiding to watch the big guns. When they got home, their mother wasn't there yet. When their mother got home a policeman came and wanted to talk to Robert. He was holding the cotton buds the little girl had on. He had remembered seeing her butting them on and found them in the base camp. His mother got mad but didn't do anything. Robert told the guy after some questioning that there was someone else their too spying. Abel, he said. He was scared when Robert had seen him and ran off. Abel got arrested a few times and also was let go.

So far the book is really good. Its also very sad hearing what was happening to Roberts dad and Abel. Elliot doesn't know that Robert had told on Abel. Robert didn't want him to know because he knew Elliot liked Able and everyone else hated him knowing he was German. Elliot was always of drawing with Abel. Robert Started noticing that Able wasn't a bad person after all. He felt sorry for him after the bad people went to his house and burned up the sheds with all his paintings. I still think this is a really good book and i recommend it to anyone who loves painting, drawing etc.
