The Dragonbone Chair

Title: The Dragonbone CHair
Author: Tad Williams
Genre: Epic Fantasy
Pages: 927

Being the first of a trilogy, a book has to make an impact, and The Dragonbone Chair did just that. In the land of Osten Ard, death stirs in it's sleep. A mysterious cult who worship the darkened gods of ages past have slain the prince and plan to assassinate the king. Under martial law, the entire kingdom starves and disease spreads rapidly. But there is hope. Three travelers, unnamed, have come from the south to aid the king. In the epic tale that follows, battles are fought, gods woken and most of all, dreams lost.
I found The Dragonbone Chair to be surprisingly hard to read, but at the same time was a good one. A lot of the book is based on Norse history, which I take a small interest to. But overall it was a typical but challenging read for me which I would recommend to anyone out there who loves fantasy.
