Report Section
Crow Callers group continues walking for long stretches of snow covered land. They find no shelter nor food in the snow blizzard and they realize they are all going to die. Everyday that passes another person falls behind and is left to die. Dancing Fox is not sure what they are going to do, everyday she walks further and further away from Runs In Light. They are forced to sleep in the open and for four days they lie there with no energy as people start dying, Dancing Fox survives because Raven Hunter gives her extra food. As they rise to travel again the elder Grey Stone that Dancing Fox had been supporting dies, though she does not die alone because further up Crow caller makes several attempts to stand up but the wind easily sweeps his frail body of the ground and he falls, not getting up again. Though much further a way in the other direction runs In light is slowly going mad as his group is loosing faith in him and is wolf dream, many taunting and insulting him. The groups insults (especially One Who Cries) had gotten to his head and he felt like everything was lost. The only one who that believed in him was the elderly woman Broken Branch. Though when they had no food left and no shelter and Runs In Light could not connect with the Wolf in his dreams. The one who supported him and gave him hope was Green Water, she told him that many still believe in him and that some are just scared and hungry and that it was not his fault that they might have failed. The next thing that happens is that Runs In Light wakes up in a strange cave, it was built like a home and was warm and cozy. An old lady stands in front of him. He soon realizes this ancient woman was Heron, she was said to be a myth of his tribe as a extremely strong dreamer who left to tribe and walked into the endless snow storms and never returned. The only one who though she was real was Broken Branch as she was alive when heron left. Heron takes care of Runs In Light and he soon tells her that they must save the rest of his tribe that are still in the snow storm. Heron owns two dogs, one called black and the other called White and as the myths, she can talk to animals (like any other dreamer can) and she orders them to find any signs of more people. They follow the dogs and soon arrive at where the group had settled for the night before. People hear them coming and become overjoyed when they find out Runs In Light have returned (they all though he had ran away) and with a person who can help them. Heron takes them back to her cave which lies in a clearing between boulders, there is a hot spring there and enough space for everyone to set up a shelter. She has enough food for them for four weeks if she is planning to use up all her savings. Even though many try to convince him Runs In Light does not believe he is a dreamer so Heron sets out to prove it telling him that to help the tribe she will summon caribou to come so they can hunt them. As they wait in a pass between the boulders Heron starts to sing a ancient song to summon the caribou and soon they come, and as Runs In Light goes for the first kill he gets caught in the song and finishes it all by himself as Heron stops. He cannot ignore the fact that he is a Dreamer.
Response Section
What do you think about what you have read?
I think that the consequences of which group the people have chosen is beginning to show and I am worried about how Dancing Fox is planing to catch up with Runs In Light's group when they have been walking non-stopping every day in two opposite directions and the snow has covered all the tracks.
Has your recent reading fulfilled your expectations?
Yes, though no bit even has happened I suspected that Runs In Light would finally meet Heron as they speak o her earlier in the book and I also though that Crow Caller would sooner or later die though I did not thing he would die so soon.
What do you expect for your continued reading?
I expect that soon Runs In Light's group have to leave Herons protection because it will not be able to support so many people but the group will not want toot and might loose faith that there is something behind the great glacier.
How satisfied are you with what you have read?
I have made a plan for how much I will read for every blog post so it will be dividend into the six blog post and I read all I needed for this blog post.
Passage Section
"A strange warmth built up in Runs In Light's chest, a feeling of rightness-- of Power. On the wings of the drive line, the women crouched, their darts nocked in the hooks of their atlatls. A total silence descended, broken only by the haunting chant from Heron's blind." (226)
I chose this passage because it shows the first sings of that Runs In Light is a Dreamer and that all doubts that his dream was fake or misread should go away, and something magical happened to Runs In Light when he hunted these caribou, he felt a connection to them and they listened to him.
