Rotation Post Number 1

What makes a human great?

There are many people that I would consider great, but the people that are considered great the most, are the ones that have done something to change humanity. Their bravery and good deeds in life, made other people aware of the things they were trying to achieve. Some great people had achieved in life some things that were only distinguished after their death. For example, Anne Frank had written her diary, but it had become famous after her death. Her death makes the story even more touching, especially that she died young. Another example is of Gregor Mendel, the father of genetics. His experiments had been performed while he was alive, but no one understood them. Only after his death did people realize how important his experiments were. My three choices are Amelia Earhart, Anne Frank, and Joan of Arc.
The reason I chose Anne Frank was because she was one of the many people to suffer during the holocaust. She also wrote a diary which showed us what it was living at the time of World War Two, but as well showed how positive she was and how much she believed in humanity. Anne Frank's writing had influenced many people. She was just a young innocent girl, who was killed because of her religion. She was a German Jewish girl. It's the same when Christians were killed by the Romans in the past. Many people had been victims from the holocaust, but she was the one who had kept track of what it was like in her dairy. Anne Frank died of typhus in the concentration camp of Bergen Belsen.
Amelia Earhart was the first woman to travel the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. What made her great was that she was aware of all of he danger she could have been facing, but still decided to take the risks in order to fulfill the wish to fly. One day when she set flight on another one of her incredible journeys, she left her home never to be seen again.
Joan of Arc was a great person. At her time, women were not supposed to be important, they were supposed to stay at home and do the cleaning and chores that no one ever got credit for. Joan of Arc had heard so called "voices" in her head that were telling her to go and fight for her country against the English. Despite the fact she was laughed at couple of times seeing her as an incapable girl, and despite the dangers she could have been running in the wars, she risked her life to fight for her country. Because of her powers and incredible skills to lead the French Army, her enemies considered her a witch. Therefore, she was captured and burnt to the stake. One similarity that she and Amelia Earhart both have is that they are both women, who were not supposed to be doing anything great. They saw the dangers ahead them, but still decided to risk doing as their dreams were telling them to. Anne Frank was more a victim than a hero. She had never done anything that made her exceptionally great, but she was a big reminder to people what had happened during the Holocaust.
