Title: Uglies
Author: Scott Westerfeld
This week I started reading a novel called 'Uglies'. I havn't read a lot of the book yet but I like it so far.
'uglies' is set in a futuristic version of America, which means there's a lot of really cool gadjets such as hoverboards, floating ice rinks, hovercars...
It is about a girl named Tally Youngblood. She is 15 and in 3 months she will turn 16 and go through the obligatory plastic surgery to become a part of the 'Pretties'. This surgery basically gets rid of any flaws that you have and makes you look perfect. The problem is, this makes the society very superficial and people are even separated because of how they look. For example, children from 12 to 16 who are waiting for the operation live together in community where they are basically breaking all the rules. These people are called 'Uglies'. And once you have been through the surgery you have to go live with the 'Pretties'. The only thing Pretties do is hang out with other Pretties, drink champagne and are obsessed with using words like 'bubbly' and 'bogus' in all their sentences. Basically, society is becoming vain and seemingly flawless and very superficial.

I find this book different than other I read and I can't wait to read further into the story.
