Davincie Code

Dan brown
500 pages
genre: mysterie

In the little i've read of this book the protagonist is a famous harvard professor studying symbols. The protagonist is on a trip to paris and is staying at the Ritz, 5 star hotel. After a day of giving conferences, he goes back to his hotel since the professor he had a meeting with didn't come. He is awaken at 12 oclock in the evening by a police man, that tells him that the very same professor he had a meeting with, also studying symbols, has been killed few hours ago. Our protagonist is brought to the Louvre right after and is questioned and asked to help with the search.
I think this is a very good book and look foward reading some more.

the beasties (week 3)

Title: the beasties
Author's name: William Sleator
# of pages: 198

When Doug and Colette was out of sight from the logger site they drew what details and everything they could remember about the machines, houses, and weapons. They made a final draft of both and threw it down to the family (the beasties) so that they exactly knew where to go on their mission. That night Doug was pretty sure that Colette would sneak out and down to the family, and she did. After some time Doug found some courage to sneak down in the tunnels and get a hint of what they are doing. He walked through the tunnels and got to the operation room and saw one of the loggers on the table, about to get his arm cut off. He continued through and followed a high noise of the family. They were taking all kinds of stuff down from a trapdoor in the logging site. He was hiding so no one could see him and he watch until they were finished and closed the trapdoor. Fingers (Colette's beastie friend) could smell Doug and out of nowhere two beasties hold his arms. They dragged him to a room and the queen came to give some orders on what should happen to him. She ordered that they should kill him, because he could not be trusted and he sneaked in to their tunnels during a mission. Fingers had to take to the operation room. Halfway they stopped and got something to drink. Doug tried whatever he could to make Fingers trust him. Doug had to answer some question that was about the family and he had to guess right. He got the most important on right, which most other people did not understand. Fingers really started believe in him and started to think if he should let him go or not. She demanded two smaller beasties to not tell anyone about what she was about to do. Fingers silently took Doug and Colette up to the trapdoor behind their house and let them go home. Doug and Colette went to bed as before they knew it and slept rapidly. The next day there were three men in the living room sitting by the table; it was the men from the logging site. Doug and Colette got very nervous. The three men insisted that Doug and Colette had something to do with all their broken machineries. Demanded them to them who did all of it. Right when Doug was about to say who it was Mrs. Sloan (Like a nanny) said that it was the beasties and she knew how to get in their tunnels.
This book is just getting better and better and I can’t stop reading more and more. I think this book could be for everybody so far and if you like what you have read, then don’t hesitate to read it. Thumbs up all the way!

Frozen In Time-Week 3

So, to continue where we left of.  Ben,Rachel,Freddy and Polly were watching a tape to find out something related to the disappearing of Freddy's and Polly's father which happened 50 years ago. At first, nothing suspicious happens, but then a man stopped at their gate for a minute and then left. A couple of minutes later, a black car appeared stopped in front of their gate.
Unfortunately, the tape ran out at that moment, so they could not see what happened with the car. After the tape ran out, it was time for the kids to go to sleep.
The next morning started with screaming. Polly,s dog, Bess, made Rachel's bed wet. Rachel was okay with it. Their plan for the day was to make a hike with their bikes. Ben and Freddy found out that Freddy's and Polly's bikes are still in the garage. But, before the ride, they had to clean and fix the 53-year old bikes. Polly was impressed with antibacterial cleaning sprays. After the bikes were ready, they decided their first destination was the farm shop. When they arrived, something very unusual happened. The women working on the cashier had piercing on. Polly thought it was some injury and she panicked. She hardly survived. It took some time for Ben and Rachel to explain what piercing is.

They decided to stop at a hill and eat. When they finished, it was time to head back. They found Uncle Jerome on a tree which was located next to the gate. He found the camera. It was still there, but in a horrid shape. He said he remembered who the man from the tape was. At that point, an old man stopped by their gate and said:
"Yes, it was me. Percival Shaw". He is a retired police officer. They walked him in and showed him the tape asking him about the car. Percival said he remembers the car. It was a government car. Freddy's and Polly's father worked with the government.
The kids said there is no reason for the government to kill or do anything bad to their father.

After Percival left and the kids ate dinner, they listened to the radio. Polly didn't like it so much. She didn't like the nasty jokes the speaker uses and some specific words used in songs. They explained to Polly, it was just a joke. They made a plan for tommorow to go downtown and do some more research in the library.

When they got to bed, just before they turned off the light, Polly screamed. Bess, the dog, was bleeding. They figured everything was alright and she probably just scratched herself.

The next morning, Polly and Freddy dressed up in 21st century style. They decided to leave Bess home today, just to be safe of the traffic. They parked their bikes in the park. There was a playground in the park. But, some things from the 1950's was gone.

When they arrived in the library, the women there showed them the computers on which they can search articles from the 50's. Unfortunately, they found nothing.

When they finished and got out of the library, they stopped to get Burger King. Freddy and Polly, like all other teenagers were amazed by the junk food. After they finished, Polly noticed something red on her napkin. They said it must be ketchup, but Polly knew it was something way worse.

War Horse

Title: War Horse
Author: Michael Morpurgo
Genre: Drama, War
Pages: 182
Plot:

In 1914, a pony named Joey (who narrates this tale) is sold to a drunken farmer. The farmer's 15-year-old son, Albert, is thrilled. He names and cares for Joey and protects the animal from the farmer's drunken rages. When the family begins to feel the financial impact of war, Albert's father secretly sells Joey to an army officer named Captain Nicholls. Albert finds out and begs the captain to let him join the army. Albert is too young, but Nicholls promises to take good care of Joey for him.True to his word, Nicholls treats Joey well and sketches him for Albert. He is proud of his new horse. Though Joey still fondly remembers Albert, he grows to like his new life and master. He develops a friendship with another horse, Topthorn, who belongs to Nicholls' friend, Captain Stewart. The horses and men are shipped overseas for battle. Departing the ship in France, the soldiers witness the sorrow and injuries all around them. They soon face their own battle, and Captain Nicholls is killed. A young trooper named Warren becomes Joey's new owner. Joey and Topthorn do well in battle, but the Germans capture Warren and Stewart and their mounts. Though the horses no longer have the honor of serving the cavalry, their duties of pulling carts full of wounded German soldiers earn them praise and good care from the men. An old farmer and his granddaughter, Emilie, dote on the horses as well. When the German army moves out of the area, Emilie and her grandfather get to keep the two horses. Joey and Topthorn are content to work the farm until another band of soldiers takes them. They become workhorses under worse conditions than they've ever experienced. They grow thin and weak but are nursed back to health in the spring by a man named Friedrich. Joey is devastated when Topthorn dies of exhaustion and Friedrich dies in battle later that day. Alone and frightened, Joey gets injured on a barbed fence and wanders into "no-man's-land" between the German and English camps. One man from each side comes out to help him. During the two soldiers' brief discussion, they realize they are very much alike and that the war might be needless if two people like them could just sit down and talk it out. The English soldier wins the coin toss for Joey and takes him back to camp. Joey is reunited with Albert, who is now an army veterinary orderly. Their joy is short-lived when Joey begins showing signs of tetanus from his wound. Albert begs for and receives permission to nurse the horse back to health. Slowly, Joey regains his mobility. As the war ends, Albert's officer announces the horses will not be returning with the soldiers but will be sold in France. All of Albert's fellow soldiers pool their money, but they're not able to outbid an old German man who buys Joey. The man, Emilie's grandfather, tells Albert how Emilie lost the will to live after the horses were taken. His deathbed promise to her was to make sure Joey was cared for. He sells Joey to Albert for one penny, as long as Albert promises to share Emilie's story so her life will not be in vain. Joey and Albert return home.

Ship Breaker Part 3 -Tyler

Title: Ship Breaker
Author: Paolo Bacigalupi
Published by Little, Brown and Company
Copyright date: 2010
Pages: 323
Genre: Action, Suspense

Yet again, Ship Breaker didn't cease to entertain me. The author has stepped it up to the next level, and now has even more action. After a terrible storm came through Nailer's small community, he and Pima scavenged a clipper boat. But this was not any boat. It was the boat that carried Nita, the daughter of one of the world's richest business owners to ever exist. After saving her from the wreck, they decided to help her get home, as they would get a large reward. But Nailer's drunk and abusive dad decided he wanted some money as well. He, along with the help with some of his gang members, held his own son, Pima, and Nita captive. Nailer' dad was a loose cannon ready to blow. Nailer's dad was debating whether to kill Nita and take the scavenge or help her. If he were to help her, it would be most likely he wouldn't get a reward at all from the "swanks". If he were to kill her, he could take any of her stuff from the boat, bury her and act like it never happened. Nailer, a determined, thoughtful boy, decided he needed to help Nita escape in order to ensure his survival. Nailer, Nita, and Tool (an ex-gang member) are now out on a journey to the half sunken city of New Orleans. This book has me reading on and on. I am suppose to be on page 150 (3 weeks). I am currently on page 220. I recommend this book to any one who likes action and suspense, as I love both I am enjoying Ship Breaker. However, if you do not like violence or very sad books, I would say to read with caution, as it has a lot of both.

A Wrinkle In TIme

Pages 15-110
Author Madelene L'Engle

I am reading the book, "A Wrinkle in Time" For both my outside reading report or, ORR and my book report project. I chose this book from my award winners because this author was one of my grandmothers favorite authors and my mother and sister also liked this book. This book is about a girl named Meg, her baby brother Charles Wallace, and their new friend Calvin who go on an adventure through other planets accompanied by Mrs. Which, Mrs. Who, and Mrs.Whatsit. That travel through planets to destroy the evil monster that Meg's father has been fighting. She has not seen him for a long time. The three "W's" were at one point starts who also faced the shadow but were defeated. Charles is a strange toddler. He knows more than a lot of people, but he is a bit of an outcast. Meg is smart but not good in school or good with people. Calvin is almost the opposite, he is a basketball player with a  lot of friends and not a loving family. The group of people are getting closer and closer to see Meg's father but the town they are in on the planet Camazotz is peculiar. The people almost acts as robots, that makes me think they might actually be robots. So far I like this book, it I wonder how the group of people will defeat the shadows and save Meg's father.

After she found the girl there they talked for a while and realized that they were both doing the same thing, they were both sneaking around to get to the pretty town. They got back to their town and started talking about how great it would be if they could both become pretties at the same time so none of them stay behind and lose their friend. Then they figured that they both have the birthday at the same time so they become pretties together. After that they stained there and talked about all sorts of different things and one of them includes hover boarding which her friend use to do all the time. So she started learning how to ride the hover board it took a while for her to get a hang of it but the board did a lot of thing to make riding it easier, once she learned it. It was her turn to the her friend so one day she wanted to use this program that they have which takes their face and they get to change it how they like. But her friend has never done that. Even when you were a little you did that. After a long time of convincing she finally insisted and started doing it.
