The man behind the microchip by Luka Brown

Name: The man behind the microchip

Pages read: 125 pgs.
Pages total: 309 pgs.

Robert Noyce has entered into his invention stage. He has started working for Shockley, a very famous scientist that was one of the scientists who invented the transistor. Robert Noyce has also been married to a girl named Elizabeth Bottomley. Life is going overall well for Robert. Until he decides that he wants something better. He’s the type of guy who wants to do something for the world not just be the “assistant” of a great inventor. Him and his co-workers decide to make their own company. This would be Fairchild semiconductors. It was a great success. The first few years were slow, they were making a decent profit. Soon things just got out of hand (in a good way). As soon as the demand for transistors and electronics rose the profits just got better and better. Soon Robert Noyce became rich. He could now afford nice things. He was also able to buy a nice house just outside San Francisco. Things were looking up.

The great human path is where something starts off looking bad and miserable but if you put the effort in you can succeed in everything. I can sort of see this in Robert Noyce. When he was young his family was ok. He had a good childhood and when you look at his early life you wouldn’t of expected the things that he did. Things might have not been the best but he did become a millionaire and the co inventor of the microchip.

When Robert Noyce was young he as an avid builder. He was able to build a fully functional glider that would be able to hold a kid in full flight. His parents worked with the church. He had two brothers named Gaylord and Donald. At a young age he had to move a lot because of the financial crisis going on at the moment. When he entered high school he was a genius. He always got top grades in every subject and he was also a ladies man.

If Robert Noyce wasn’t a builder in his early life he would have been different. If he hadn’t gone to the high school that he went to he might of done different things because I think that some events that happened in his adolescences strongly changed about what he was going to be.

This is the book about Robert Noyce. This book tells you about how he was able to invent the microchip.

  2. As Alex mentioned before, I also agree with your view of how this person had a great human path, and I haven't really payed attention to the importance of the microchip until you presented Robert Noyce to us in class a few classes back. I really hope you enjoy the presentation that you will have about him :)
