Living History Week 3

Title: My Life
Author: Earvin Magic Johnson
Genre: Biography
Pages: 364

This week i read about Johnson childhood. When he was a kid there wasn't much he did. They lived in a small community and you couldn't get away with anything. If you did something bad everybody in the community would know and his father was really strict. He had to work hard and any money that he could use he had to get it by himself. He had to chores everyday and if he didn't there was a strict talk and even sometimes a whupping. When he had to go to the store he would dribble his ball will he walked. He also went to the other side of town just to go and play a basketball game. They would play one on one and the winner stayed on the court. The line was long so the only way to stay and play was to keep wining.

1. To be a self actualized human is for you to have created yourself. Nobody guided you for example to become a basketball player you just found the path by your self with no one telling you to. If you do it alone you develop character which helps you later in life.

2. The unique thing i discovered about my figure was when he was a kid once he didn't do his homework and his teacher which he liked didn't let him play at the basketball game which was a important one. Then he tried and begged to play in the game and never did. From then on he learned a lesson which he still remembers today and even though it may have made him feel really bad then, now he realized.

3. His education was just like everybody else. He went in a normal school were he had to work hard and get good grades because of his parents. Other then that there was nothing different.

  1. Ogi your post is well organized and interesting. I learned a lot from your post. I can now realize that he is a inspiration to many youth around the world.

  2. I agree that the story that you said about him not being allowed to play in a basketball game because of his work really built his character, same with his strict, and almost cruel father also gave him discipline.
