Title: STEPHEN HAWKING: REVOLUTIONARY PHYSICIST
Author: Melissa McDaniel
Pages: 112
Genre: Biography

I consider a person who goes out of his/her way simply to make the world better, and in doing so applying all of the learner profile while making a true change to the world, for the best. I chose Stephen Hawking as my great human being, as he (to this day) contributes to science and society, even though he can only move a single muscle of his entire paralyzed body. He continually questions and inquires into theories, he gives speeches in the very university he went to, and he writes books to support his family as well as contribute to the scientific society. He got 95 percent on his physics score for a scholarship to Oxford, and he was bored in Oxford due to lack of academic challenge. Despite spending only around 1000 hours of study, he finished the final exam with flying colors. He then went onto Cambridge, studied black holes, and the rest is history (history being him discovering quantum radiation emitted by black holes).

Commonalities range among great humans, but a few adjectives and words have come to describe them:

  • Persistent
  • Integrity
  • Inspiring
  • Generous
  • Perspective changing
What are three things that would make my top Living History pick a strong entry into the museum?
  1. He continually questions and inquires into theories, he gives speeches in the very university he went to.
  2. His knowledge, as it grants him the ability to answer questions without having to move.
  3. His contributions to the scientific community have been practical and theoretical, contributing to scientific knowledge, and inspiring others due to living 48 years past his life expectancy.

  1. This sounds very cool. I think Steven Hawking is great, also because he is nearly totally disabled and still keeps on doing and accomplishing so many things. I totally agree with that he is a great human being. Where is your picture though?

  2. I definitely think that Stephen Hawking deserves to be in our museum because of all that he overcame for what he believes. He should be an inspiration because he did all he could and he became true genius from a lot of hard work.

  3. I really like how Steven Hawking even though he can only move one muscle in his body he still didnt give up on what he wanted and kept on working hard. Great Job! :D
