Jane Goodall 3

1.      What does it mean to be a ‘self-actualized’ human being?
A self-actualized human being is one who does to their full potential. They try their hardest to succeed and don't let anything or anyone bring hem down. they are always focused on whats in front of them and are focused on what they want and their dreams. It is giving all you got and through that learning how much you can do, and what is your limit, you learn how much you are capable of doing. Human beings test themselves on how much they can accomplish all through their lives through learning, and trying. A person who is lazy and doesn't want to do anything will never reach self-actualization. They will never try new things and will never learn what they can or cant do. A self-actualized human being learns about their potential all through their lives, they will take risks and try their best even though they might not accomplish what they wanted at the end. They also don't overdo themselves in work, they accept who they are and how much they can do, also accepting how much others can do is part of it.

2.      What is one unique thing you have discovered about your figure?
There are many things that I have discovered about Jane Goodall, she is just amazing from all point of views. However one thing that really amazed me is that how someones dream of becoming something can start at a such a young age such as one year old. Jane Goodall got a stuffed animal chimp called Jubilee. SHe carried it around everywhere when she was little and that is how her dream of helping chips began. I never thought how something like that could start from a very early age. It is weird to me since I still don't know what I am going to do with my life.

3.      Describe your figure’s schooling & education?
Jane Goodall was a very normal child. She went to a normal middle school and high school, just like us in ISB. Even though she was a normal kid, that doesn't means she wouldn't grow up to be extraordinary. Jane Goodall attended Cambridge University and graduated in 1964 where she was one of eight people to leave the school with a medical degree. She, herself, acquired a degree in ethology. On May fourth, 1953, Jane Goodall began Queen's Secretarial COllege in South Kensington. Then on SPring of 1954, in August Jane began clerical work at Oxford University.

Title:Up close with Jane Goodall
Author: Jane Goodall
Pages:198

Summary of what I read so far: This is the second book that I read about Jane Goodall and there is a lot of information in that book which is repeated, however they also had a lot of new information. Jane Goodall will forever be linked with the chimpanzees that she?s studied for over fifty years. A pioneer in scientific research, she revolutionized longstanding views about chimps, forest conservation, and women in scientific fields. This Up Close biography tells the story of how a demure young woman from London went to Africa and changed the world. Jane Goodall, well-known primatologist, was aware of her interest in animals from earliest childhood. As a five-year-old, she spent hours quietly observing a hen in a chicken coop in order to find out where eggs came from in much the same way she would later study primates. After graduating from high school but lacking the money for more education, Goodall creatively found a way to study African primates, first reaching the continent to visit a friend and then finding secretarial work with anthropologist Louis Leakey. He became her mentor, playing a key role in arranging for Goodall’s research in Gombe. There her detailed study of the social relations of chimpanzees resulted in vastly enhanced understanding of primate behavior.
