The Hunger games is set in post apocalyptic North America, where much of the continent has been destroyed. The few remaining humans are gathered in to the Capitol, and thirteen other districts. The thirteen districts feel oppressed, and revolt against the Capitol. The Capitol destroys the thirteenth district and the other twelve surrender. Now, every year to prove their might, the capitol draws a male and female tribute for the hunger games, a brutal fight to the death in a hostile environment. In district twelve, Katniss volunteers instead of her sister, Prim. Peeta, the second tribute, is Katniss' "Lover" throughout the games. Katniss believes he's playing pretty boy, but when the games get intense, she isn't so sure any more.
A thrilling 400 pages of nothing but action. Collins brings the games vividly to life unlike any other author, making you almost feel a part of it. I thought it was an amazing read throughout, but could do with more detail to Peeta's life, which I feel is left bland. From me, a 9.5/10.
You get more detail about Pippa in the sequals to these books and yes i would agree with you Collin does an amazing job depicting this story. I absolutly love this book you should read the rest of the series
