"Don't count your biddies 'for they're hatched, gal young un!"
Birdie was particularly fond strawberries. They had started growing well, when the Slaters ran their cattle over the strawberries. Birdie was very upset, and so were her parents. They decided the best way to avoid the cattle was by building up a fence. The Slater's got terribly annoyed. They hated fences, and hated it even more that the neighbours could afford them to keep their animals away. SO one day the Slaters decided to burn the Boyer's house down. Mrs. Slater wanted to help her neighbours and learn to love them however Mr. Slater didn't let that.
One day while Mr. Slater was gone Mrs. Slater got ill. She couldn't take care of the children any more. SO Mrs. Buyer came and helped her out until Mr. Slater came. When he found out that he left his wife sick, he was very sorry, and soon learned to love his neighbour's because they save their families life.
I liked this book, however it was quite easy.
